DIVISIONAL FUNCTIONS

4. MARKETING DEPARTMENT FUNCTIONS

To design and set specific marketing goals and targets.
To protect and expand NIPOST market shares in the postal industry.
To employ the use of market segmentation principles in the marketing and sales of NIPOST products. To conduct market research and monitor customer needs, usage and trends as well as competitive activity.
To create a structure or process for co-ordinating all marketing functions toward the attainment of organizational goals.
To create a corporate style and culture in which marketing integrates participants both within and outside NIPOST towards corporate goal achievements.
To establish a market-based business concept that provides unique value to the customer on all our postal services and allied products

STRUCTURE

The department is headed by a Senior Assistant Postmaster-General and is made up of three units. The units are as follows.

1. Sales Promotion/Advertisement
2. Product/Sales
3. Marketing Research/Product Development

5. INVESTIGATION AND SECURITY DEPARTMENT FUNCTIONS:

Prevention/detection of postal related crimes to ensure security of mail.
Investigation of reported cases and prosecution of suspected offenders.
Production and issuance of post office and staff identify cards for purposes of identification and revenue generation.
Institution of Postal/Money Orders enquiries and disputed documents analysis.
Surveillance and intelligence duties/activities.

STRUCTURE:

There are three units in the Department, viz

1. Surveillance and Intelligence branch
2. Operations/Litigation branch
3. Planning, Research and Development branch.

6. MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM (MIS) UNIT

The activities carried out under the MIS unit are as follows;
Provision of timely and accurate information to Management for planning purposes.
Information technology support to the top managers in the organization.
In-house computer training.

STRUCTURE:

Management Information System comprises three sections. They are as follows;

1. System Programming Section
2. Computer Operators/Data Entry Section
3. Control Section

7. TERRITORIAL ADMINISTRATION DIVISION FUNCTIONS:

The functions carried out by the Territorial Administration Division are as indicated below

Initiation of policies on the establishment and management of the network of counter service and postal agencies nationwide.
Implementation of control systems for the monitoring of counter services.
Determination and placement of order for counter stocks.
Initiating the promotion of products and services in its stable.
Training and retraining of counter staff nationwide.
Preparation, presentation of draft budget and implementation of approved budget for counter operations.
Resuscitating and re-packaging old and ailing services for improved patronage.

STRUCTURE

The Division has two departments, each headed by a Senior Assistant Postmaster-General. The Departments are;
